The Jokey Eco Concept
14 steps to packaging for the circular economy

At Jokey, we believe that the ideal packaging is both highly functional and highly sustainable. With the Jokey Eco Concept, we have developed a guideline to combine the two. Our goal: maximum product functionality with a minimal ecological footprint. We are working towards this with 14 fields of action in the areas of Eco Strategy, Eco Resources, Eco Design and Eco Digital.

The Jokey
Eco Concept 2.0 Video

The Jokey Eco Concept is continuously being adapted. The video presents the second-generation Eco Concept with its ten fields of action. In version 4.0, it was recently expanded to include four additional fields of action.

Interview
with Jens Stadter

This video was recorded in August 2020. In the meantime, the Jokey Eco Concept presented in it has been further developed. Since 2024, it has been available as the Jokey Eco Concept 4.0 in its fourth generation. The fourth pillar, Eco Digital, has been added with four further fields of action.

Are plastic packaging and ecology a contradiction? This is often the subject of heated public debate. Jokey’s answer is a clear “no”. But the issue is complex – and raises many questions. Jokey addresses these questions in a videocast.

Plastic is a versatile material. On the one hand, our everyday life would be unthinkable without it. On the other hand, in view of the gigantic quantities of plastic waste in the world’s oceans, many people would like to see a plastic-free world. How does a leading international plastics processor like Jokey deal with such challenges? Is plastic packaging fit for the future? What role can it play in the circular economy? And does the use of recycled and biopolymers lead to greater sustainability? Jokey gets to the bottom of these questions in this video.

In the 14-minute interview, Jens Stadter, CEO Jokey Group, presents the expanded Jokey Eco Concept 2.0 and explains the 10 fields of action that point the way to a sustainable circular economy. He also addresses critical issues around plastic waste, alternative packaging materials, increased expectations of environmentally conscious end users and the long road to climate-neutral packaging. Jens Stadter also explains Jokey’s vision of using recycled materials in packaging for the past 30 years and why the “Grey is the new Green” campaign is very timely.
