EU regulation on deforestation-free supply chains (EUDR) – start date postponed to the end of 2025

The EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) on deforestation-free supply chains has been in force since 29 June 2023 (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115). In December 2024, the EU Parliament and Commission agreed to postpone the implementation deadline by one year. In July 2025, the EU Parliament called on the EU Commission to adjust the country benchmarking. According to this, large companies must comply with the new due diligence requirements from 30 December 2025.

Climate change, biodiversity loss and deforestation are issues of fundamental and global importance. The EUDR aims to ensure that only relevant raw materials and products listed in Article 1 and Annex 1 (including beef, soy, palm oil, timber, cocoa, coffee and rubber) and products made from them that are produced on land that has not been deforested are sold on the EU market.

Deforestation includes the conversion of forests into agricultural land. These raw materials or products may therefore only be placed on the EU market, made available or exported if they are deforestation-free, comply with the relevant legislation of the producing countries and are covered by a due diligence declaration (Article 3 EUDR).

Our procurement department is currently preparing to implement all obligations associated with the EUDR. We are already in close contact with our suppliers on this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
