Successful, Group-wide certification of the environmental management and energy management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001

The Jokey Group reached two important milestones of the Sustainability Program 2030 in 2024 as planned: All Jokey production sites worldwide were successfully certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. With the Group-wide certification of the environmental management and energy management system, Jokey is committed to improving its environmental performance and optimizing its energy consumption.

The Jokey Group is pleased to announce the Group-wide certification of its environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and the energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001. Certification of the 14 Jokey plants worldwide was completed at the end of last year. “We have thus achieved two important goals as planned by the end of 2024,” says Thomas Becker, Chief Operating Officer of the Jokey Group. “The Group-wide certification is further great proof of our ‘One Jokey’ approach, which also serves our customers,” continues Thomas Becker.

Jokey continuously implements standards and norms and pursues a uniform transnational approach with the “One Jokey” approach. For example, the environmental management system and the energy management system have been implemented uniformly at all locations. The Group-wide ISO certifications confirm compliance with the standards, regardless of whether production takes place at the Jokey headquarters in Wipperfürth or, for example, in the plants in North Africa.

Environmental management system according to ISO 14001

Jokey is committed to the continuous improvement of its life cycle assessments and environmental performance indicators. The Jokey Group first anchored its sustainability goals in the Jokey Eco Concept in 2017 and has regularly expanded them since then. An environmental management system was introduced in 2023 in order to standardize the review and implementation of the targets relating to operational environmental policy, environmental targets and its sustainability program across all locations, which has now been successfully certified Group-wide.

Energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001

The Group-wide certification is proof of the successful implementation of an energy management system, which the Jokey Group uses, for example, to reduce energy consumption at its production sites or replace existing energy use with its own renewable energy sources. The energy management system is part of the Jokey Eco-Strategy, with which the company is committed to the 1.5° C climate target according to SBTi (Science Based Target Initiative) and continuously reducing emissions. Energy efficiency is of crucial importance in this transformation process and requires measures in almost all areas of the company. Jokey is investing worldwide to optimize the energy consumption of systems, processes and building operations at its sites.

Jokey is focusing on the substitution of primary raw materials with secondary raw materials and on making materials and processes as circular as possible. One aim of this resource-conserving circular economy for plastic packaging is to further reduce energy consumption significantly.
