Jokey Poland manufactures recycled packaging for Śnieżka

The use of recycled packaging conserves resources and promotes the circular economy for plastics. Jokey already uses a wide range of packaging solutions with post-consumer recyclates, particularly in the non-food sector, and supplies customers throughout Europe. Now the Polish Śnieżka Group is also embracing this environmentally friendly solution. The group is considered one of the market leaders in Poland, Hungary and Ukraine for paints and products for protection and wood decoration, and is among the 25 largest manufacturers of varnishes in Europe.

The Śnieżka Group’s best-known brands include the Magnat wall paint segment. It is sold primarily in DIY and home improvement stores, such as the French store chain Leroy Merlin. Śnieżka is currently gradually converting part of the product line to the JCT 25C, which Jokey Poland manufactures with post-consumer recyclates (PCR). These originate from household and commercial collections and account for 40 per cent of the material. A further 10 per cent of the buckets consists of the company’s own ground material. The Polish paint specialist is thus also making a clear statement in favour of a resource-saving circular economy.

Thanks to the in-mould labelling process, the colourful design in a deep red colour covers the entire bucket as before. This means that the product can continue to be perceived as an eye-catcher in the premium segment. The recyclate packaging also protects the product inside just as reliably as packaging made from new plastic, thanks to its high level of impermeability and stability. This keeps the colour fresh for a long time, even after first use.

Working together to advance the circular economy in Poland

“The use of packaging made with recycled raw materials is the result of the sustainability strategy announced by Śnieżka at the beginning of 2023,” says Waldemar Jezioro, Head of Purchasing at Capital Group. “We want our products to have a minimal impact on the environment. That is why we are focusing our efforts, including in the area of packaging, on finding environmentally friendly solutions. For example, we offer our newly launched products MAGNAT #KolorLove and MAGNAT Be Eko in packaging made from at least 40 per cent recycled material.”

And Slawomir Fura, Area Sales Manager at Jokey Poland, emphasises: “We are pleased that Śnieżka has decided to use our environmentally friendly packaging solutions for filling its premium paints in the future. This means that another international Jokey customer is embracing our sustainability approach and can reduce its ecological footprint along the entire value chain.” Thanks to the use of monomaterials, the JCT 25 with a PCR content produced by Jokey Poland is, like all Jokey packaging, technically 100% recyclable. This conserves valuable resources and promotes a circular economy.
