HAGA AG – clay plaster in Jokey recycled packaging

Reuse instead of waste – with a clear statement on a resource-saving circular economy, the Swiss building materials distributor HAGA relies on Jokey’s grey recyclate bucket. The containers used for the sale of clay plaster bear the RAL quality mark for recycled plastic and consist of at least 50% post-consumer recyclates (PCR).

With the use of buckets made of recycled material, another Jokey customer is taking up the sustainability approach that Jokey represents in its expanded Eco Concept 2.0. It is advertised in the “Grey is the new green” campaign launched in 2018. Founded in 1953, the long-established company HAGA, based in Rupperswil AG, specialises in the production and distribution of natural building materials in organic quality, such as lime or clay plaster. The concept of sustainability is of central importance here. “HAGA only uses environmentally friendly raw materials without synthetic additives. They meet all requirements, both in terms of building biology and ecology,” emphasises Thomas Bühler, owner and managing director of HAGA AG. “With Jokey’s recyclate bucket, we have found a packaging solution that meets our high sustainability standards. Not only is awareness of building biology and the demand for climate-friendly construction growing, but customers also expect environmentally friendly packaging design.”

More and more recyclate packaging in the non-food industry

Jokey manufactures recycled containers from PCR, which come from household collections. The proportion of used plastic can be up to 100%. Jokey has been producing packaging from recycled plastics since the early 1990s. Paints, building materials, chemicals and other non-food products are just as safely and securely packed in them as they are in new plastics. They can be attractively designed and 100% recycled. By using them, Jokey customers are actively contributing to the protection of resources and the strengthening of the circular economy, because significantly less plastic has to be produced for PCR buckets made of secondary raw materials. Environmentally conscious end consumers can easily identify the recyclate buckets at the point of sale thanks to their grey colour, which is a result of the production process, and can thus specifically choose sustainable solutions when making their purchase decision.

“We are pleased that our Swiss customer HAGA is also committed to the advantages of recyclate packaging,” emphasises Christof Kölschbach, CSO of Jokey. “Manufacturers can act as role models here and also make a clear statement about greater sustainability with packaging solutions. Just like natural building, the use of post-consumer recyclates in packaging is also forward-looking.”
