Closed Loop: Jokey is cooperating with the Zentek Group

By working together with the Cologne-based Zentek Services GmbH & Co. KG, the Jokey Group is enabling a closed-loop system for its non-food packaging from the commercial sector in Germany. Zentek ensures the organisation of the return, sorting and recycling of used packaging buckets and delivers the high-quality recycled materials back to the Jokey plants.

For more than 30 years, Jokey has been manufacturing packaging for the non-food industry from recycled secondary raw materials, known as post-consumer recyclates (PCR). Jokey places particular emphasis on packaging solutions that can be recycled to a high standard of quality while also providing maximum packaging and user benefits for its customers. With its sustainable packaging design, Jokey is committed to ensuring that packaging can be returned to the recycling cycle in the interests of a functioning circular economy.

By cooperating with Zentek, the Jokey Group is now taking an important step further and pursuing the development of a closed-loop system in the commercial sector. As a packaging manufacturer, Jokey produces plastic buckets for industry, which, filled with their respective products, are in turn delivered to customers in retail, trade and gastronomy. The collection of these used buckets is organised by Zentek, with its nationwide and comprehensive network of certified specialist disposal companies. The used buckets are then sorted, processed and mechanically recycled into a secondary raw material, the recyclate. The cycle is closed when new buckets are produced at Jokey from the secondary raw materials obtained. The use of post-consumer recyclates not only conserves resources but also significantly reduces CO₂ emissions.
